A goal-filled weekend brought the 2018 Barbados Football Association (BFA) Premier League regular season to an entertaining, fun-filled and enjoyable end.
Thirty-three goals were scored in the final round of matches, with some huge and impactful results.
Zone 2 winners and Premier League finalist the Barbados Defense Force Sports Programme (BDFSP) were surprisingly defeated by Brittons Hill FC 3-0; an unwanted outcome ahead of their grand finale.
Reigning champions Weymouth Wales finished the regular season undefeated after a 1-0 victory over the University of the West Indies (UWI).
The Blackbirds opponents in the Third Place playoffs, Paradise FC received a buoyant boost ahead of their clash with a 10-0 thumping of Home Improvement Hardware Compton.
Coach: Fitzgerald Carter (Empire)
Goalkeeper: Omari Eastmond (Wales)- the former national goalkeeper added clean sheet number 11 to his tally for the season after some key saves against a very determined UWI unit.
Right Back: Andre Bourne (Paradise) - despite not having a lot of traffic to deal with, Bourne’s positioning allowed him to make some key interceptions as well as to get forward to assist his team offensively.
Right Center Back: Shane Mottley (Notre Dame) - Mottley was able to keep Mark Auto Spares Porey Spring FC strike duo of Shaquille Stewart and Shamar Edwards quiet for 90 minutes and aided his team in a well deserved 7-1 victory.
Left Center Back: Germaine Hughes (UWI) - the Anguillan national defender was a pillar of strength of UWI versus the defending champions.
He was commanding in the air and made some crucial challenges at critical times to keep his team within touching distance of their opponents.
Left Back: Andre Applewaithe (Notre Dame) - game intelligence, maturity and a high work earns the Combermere School athlete his second call up to the TOTW.
An assist along with his performance on both sides of the ball versus Porey Spring was enough to secure his place this week.
Right Center Midfield: Daniel Calvi (Empire) - his two goals against Crane & Equipment Ellerton rescued Empire from a defeat after being down 1-3 in the second half.
Center Midfield: Armando Lashley (Paradise) - a career-best five goals in a single game capped off an impressive evening for the national forward as his team dismissed Compton 10-0.
Left Center Midfield: Shadd Parris (Ellerton) - Parris showed signs of brilliance in both of his strikes versus Empire SC but sadly his goals were not enough as Ellerton were defeated 4-3.
Right Forward: Zeco Edmee (Notre Dame) - Edmee returned to his brilliant best with a hat-trick against Porey Spring, which helped his team to secure a 7-1 victory.
Center Forward: Chai Lloyd (Paradise) - four goals versus Compton was definitely enough for Lloyd to make his second TOTW appearance for the season.
Left Forward: Thierry Gale (Notre Dame) - a stellar debut for the national forward. Sixteen year old Gale showed no signs of nerves as he scored twice in Dames’ 7-1 riot over Porey Spring.
