A hat-trick in her latest game has seen 2017 Women's League Most Goals winner Felicia Jarvis jump to the top of the goals-race this year. Playing in the nightcap game on Saturday night at the Wildey Turf, Jarvis gave Novum Energy Mavericks Women a big win over National Sports Council and kept them in pole position with the 3-0 result.
Jarvis, who now leads the pack with nine goals after being tied with teammate Marissa King and Shanice Stevenson of Guardian Group Kick Start Genesis on six goals, put Mavericks up early in the first half. With her goals coming in the 12th, 14th and 17th minutes, the Sports Council had no rebuttals and the game ended as such.
The earlier match-up saw Genesis rolling to a massive win over the embattled Empire Women. Leading 4-0 at half time, the Kick Start ladies held a similar intensity in the second half to finish 7-0.
Asha Stevenson opened the account in the 11thminute before an own-goal in the 14th gave the leaders a two-goal cushion. Arriana Allen (32nd) and Zara Owen (42nd) were 10 minutes apart to close out the first half. In the second, Stevenson got up to seven goals this season when she beat Empire keeper Princess Welch in the 52nd.
Welch had a bit of a reprieve for a few minutes, however, Nashandi Clarke would get her first goal of the season in the 75th to be followed by goalkeeper Rowland Kirton-Browne who converted a penalty in the 79th.
