Goal-scorer Abiola Grant greeting Kyle Lewis when during the substitution process yesterday.
A two-nil scoreline in favour of the hosts was the result when the Barbados Under-17s got the ball rolling in their week of activity at the Wildey Turf. Set to head off to the United States in May for the Concacaf Under-17 Boys Championship – a qualifier for the FIFA Under-17 World Cup – the group which is being groomed for the 2026 World Cup, began their preparation this year with a win over Antigua and Barbuda yesterday evening.
The Young Tridents had goals on either side of the halftime break with Abiola Grant putting both past Jayden Martin in the 33rd and 56th minutes. The week continues with the two crossing swords once again this evening at the Turf at 5:00 PM, while the Under-15 have a date with the St. Kitts and Nevis Under-17 on Saturday at the Usain Bolt Sports Complex on Saturday at 4:00 PM. The Under-17s will be included in the Barbados Premier League action on Sunday, playing at 6:00 PM against St. Kitts and Nevis between the 4:00 PM game with Barbados Soccer Academy and Weymouth Wales and the 8:00 PM game with Ellerton and Empire.
