Premiere Classe Paradise FC cruised to a 2-0 victory over Crane and Equipment Ellerton in the Barbados Football Association’s first Super Sunday of this year’s Coca Cola Premier League.
Even without new Trinidadian defender Dwight Pope, the Dover boys were still large and in charge.
They got things going in the 14th minute when skipper Armando “Sugar” Lashley delivered his fourth goal of the season with a ball that travelled up and over goalie Jamar Brewster.
And just as the clock struck 60 minutes, Jabarry “Pappy” Chandler deposited his second goal of the season at close range, with the help of the towering Zico Phillips and Ackeel Applwaite.
In the nightcap game, Weymouth Wales whitewashed recent addition to the Premier League Deacons 5-0.
The Green Machine registered their first goal in the sixth minute when Sheran Hoyte helped Romario “Pete Pete” Harewood pocket a deflected shot past Deacons custodian Kevon Allsop.
Seventeen minutes later, Ray Snagg was bolstered by Captain Hadan Holligan to give them the lead heading into half time.
Then in the 67th minute Ramar Millar’s header off of Snagg’s free-kick found the back of the nets, before Tyrelle Demondunca pocketed his first goal of the season in the 77th. The latter also came back 13 minutes later to register a brace and seal Deacons fate.
Meanwhile, the Barbados Defence Force Sports Programme and Scotty’s Car Rentals St Andrew Lions played to a 0-0 finish.
And while they have lost no games for the season thus far, the defending champions will have to fight harder if they intend to defend their title.
With only one win under their belt, this draw now drops them to fourth position behind Notre Dame, Wales and Paradise.
