The Senior Women's team will be looking to impress all and sundry when they are first out the blocks tomorrow in the Windward Islands Football Association's 2017 Women's Tournament. Set to be played at the Victoria Park ground in St. Vincent and the Grenadines over the next few days. The Bajan ladies will be playing in the round robin competition which will see them going up against, Grenada, St. Lucia and the hosts.
Prior to shipping out on Monday, Technical Director at the Barbados Football Association Technical Director Ahmed Mohamed said that all the teams looked good and that the tournament was an open one. “We are going there to compete. As far as I saw, the last couple games from Grenada, St. Lucia and St. Vincent, we are supposed to be the same level as them. So the competition is more open now and anyone could win from those four countries but my main goal is to come back with a trophy if the opportunity is given.” he said.
Noting that the team was feeling the effects of the Women's League being in full swing Mohamed said that they would be ready. “We had two injuries and right now the fitness level is not where we wanted it to be because they are playing the Women's League right now and you can see some of the fatigue but we have done some recovery and will continue to do so to be ready for Wednesday's first game.” Mohamed said.
