Women's League on last leg

Category: | 0 Replies

The University of the West Indies' Usain Bolt Sports Complex will provide the backdrop this Sunday as the Women's League continues to wind down. With just five more game-days remaining before the 2017 champions are decided, the race goes to Black Rock this weekend as the top teams try to get ahead of each other.

A triple-header is scheduled for Sunday with the current leaders National Sports Council going up against Kick Start Genesis. Their first game since going down two-nil to the UWI women, NSC will be looking for the points to stay at the head of the pack.

Both teams are on 21 points currently from sevens wins and a loss each, however, the Sports Council are ahead of UWI by just four goals. UWI are looking to take the lead in the nightcap game at the venue as they will be taking on Technique for what should be easy points.

Mavericks are in third place and will be putting in a bid to stay in that position as they face the embattled Ellerton in the second game. They have 19 points thus far in the 2017 campaign, having racked up six wins, one draw and two losses in nine games.

Games kick off at 3:00 PM, 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM.
